Planning a trip to Walt Disney World? Whether it's your very first visit or your fifteenth, there's always something new to discover—and let's be honest, it can get a little overwhelming! With so many rides, shows, snacks, and hidden gems packed into each park, it's easy to feel like you're missing out.

As a Walt Disney World annual passholder and travel agent who specializes in Disney vacations, I've spent countless magical days in the parks (and made plenty of rookie mistakes along the way). So I wanted to share some of my go-to tips and tricks to help you plan smarter, stress less, and have the most magical time possible.

Start With a Plan (But Keep It Flexible)

Before your trip, take a little time to explore the park maps and familiarize yourself with each park's layout. I like to jot down a short list of must-do rides and experiences for each day—but I also leave room for spontaneous magic!

Tip: Focus on what you want to do—not just the big-name attractions.

Use Lightning Lanes Wisely

Lightning Lanes are your ticket to skipping the standby lines at popular attractions.

  • If you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can book them 7 days in advance starting at 7am EST.

  • Off-property guests can book 3 days out  starting at 7am EST.

Set an alarm and grab those top picks early! Popular rides fill up fast.

Download the My Disney Experience App

This app is your best friend in the parks. With it, you can:

  • Check real-time wait times

  • Make or modify dining reservations

  • Use mobile food ordering (a lifesaver!)

  • See showtimes and maps

I keep it open all day to adjust plans as needed—it's a total game-changer.

Arrive Early—It’s Worth It

Getting to the parks early really pays off. You'll beat the crowds, get shorter wait times, and enjoy the cooler morning temps. If you're staying at a Disney Resort (or select hotels), take advantage of 30-minute early entry to all four parks—it’s a great way to ride those high-demand attractions first!

Stay Hydrated (Florida Heat Is No Joke)

The Florida sun can sneak up on you. Bring a refillable water bottle and know that most quick-service spots will give you free cups of iced water—just ask!

Use Rider Switch for Little Ones

If you’re traveling with small children who can’t (or don’t want to) ride certain attractions, ask a Cast Member about Rider Switch. One adult can ride while the other waits with the child, then you switch without waiting in line again. Total sanity-saver.

Claim Your Spot for Shows Early

Want a great view of the parades or nighttime spectaculars like Happily Ever After or Fantasmic? Try to grab a viewing spot 30–45 minutes ahead of time. Or even better—book a dining package that includes reserved seating. It’s less hassle and totally worth it for the experience.

Take Breaks—Your Feet (and Brain) Will Thank You

Disney days are magical… but also long. We always plan a midday break—either to head back to the hotel for a nap or just chill out with a cold snack in the shade. Recharging helps you enjoy the evening energy without burning out.

Final Thoughts

No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, I still get that same sense of wonder walking down Main Street, U.S.A. There's always something new to see, taste, or experience.

Whether you’re going full princess-mode or chasing thrills on every coaster, I hope these tips help you make the most of your Disney adventure. And if you ever want help planning, feel free to reach out—I love helping people create magical memories!
